MC FIT LIVE: Calming Adaptogenic Smoothie & Soothing Anxiety with CBD

On the latest episode of MC FIT LIVE, we were joined by Shari Boyer, the founder of Plant Society. She shared with us all of her natural, plant based remedies to soothe anxiety, including using CBD products. She also shared a delicious smoothie, which contains adaptogenic mushrooms and herbs that helps her stay calm and focused.

Calming Adaptogenic Smoothie

1 tbsp raw cacao

1 tsp reishi mushroom powdered (or mushroom mix)

sprinkle of cacao nibs

1 dropper of unflavored CBD oil (or mint) 10-15 mg

300mg rhodiola

1 banana

1 cup plant based milk (I make homemade almond macadamia)

add maple syrup or Lakanto or Stevia as desired for sweetness (optional)

5-6 ice cubes

Natural Ways to Reduce Anxiety:

  1. Supplements like valerian root, tea and ashwaganda.

  2. Mediation/Mindfulness.

  3. Make a soothing activities list- a bath, a walk, prayer, writing, making tea, working out.

  4. Be in Nature: use all your senses, notice what is around you.  Could be your backyard, or down your block.

  5. Connect/Disconnect: Connect with others, disconnect from electronics.  Have a person that you know will listen and not judge, ask them to play that role for you so you know where to turn when you need help.  Even set up a weekly check in with them.

  6. Nutrition. don't give in to poor eating when feeling sad, just makes it worse; nourish microbiome leads to better health and spirit overall

  7. Exercise. Moving your body helps reduce stress and releases endorphins. However be aware of doing too much high intensity work, that can also lead to stress.

  8. Sleep. Using CBD products can be effective for sleep. Be sure to choose products that have a higher THC to CBD ratio or it can have the opposite effect.
